Jonathan "JJ" Redick, the former Philadelphia 76ers and Dallas Mavericks shooting guard, has announced his retirement from the NBA at the age of 39. The two-time All-Star and 2019 NBA Champion made the announcement on his podcast, "The Old Man and the Three," on Monday.

Redick, who was born in Cookeville, Tennessee, was a standout player at Duke University before being selected 11th overall by the Orlando Magic in the 2006 NBA Draft. He spent six seasons with the Magic, earning All-Star selections in 2010 and 2012, before being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in 2013.

After a brief stint with the Bucks, Redick signed with the Los Angeles Clippers, where he spent five seasons and became one of the league's top three-point shooters. He was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in 2017, where he played for three seasons, helping the team reach the Eastern Conference Semifinals in 2019. Redick joined the New Orleans Pelicans in 2020 before finishing his career with the Dallas Mavericks in 2021.

In his career, Redick averaged 12.8 points per game, shooting 44.5% from the field and 41.5% from three-point range. He was known for his catch-and-shoot ability, his high basketball IQ, and his leadership on the court. Redick will retire as one of the most respected and accomplished shooters in NBA history.
